Elisha Grover Walters, 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 23, 2019, at his home in Aston, PA. He was born on July 14 th , 1934 to R. Haskell & Luria Walters of Ova, Kentucky, oldest of 3 sons and one daughter (and a cousin Edward Allen also lived with them when they moved to Pennsylvania).
Preceded in death by his parents Haskell and Luria Walters, his wife of 43 years Codie Walters, brothers Winford & Donald Walters, step-son Carl Ware Sr. & Grandson Airman 1 st class Carl Ware Jr.
He is survived by his brother Gorden(Verna) Walters of Elkton, MD, his sister Mary R Smith of Ardmore, PA, daughter-in-law Rosalie Ware (widow of Carl Ware Sr.) of Dinuba, CA. His children Ken (Tammy) Walters of Newark, DE, Dan (Cindy) Walters of Louisville, KY, Lynn(Sam) Simpson of Newark, DE, Lisa Beehler of Aston, PA, 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Grover was born in Ova, KY and moved with his parents to PA when he was about 9. He was a skilled worker "Jack of all trades, and master of many" and always willing, able and ready to help someone in need, friend or stranger. He was a long-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed photography, working with wood projects of all types, as well as restoring and detailing vintage Fire Trucks owned by his good friend Nelson Barber. He worked with Signal Service Inc. (traffic light installation & maintenance) for 20+ years, then for N.B. Barber Co.(installation & maintenance of industrial fire alarm systems) for 20+ years.
Services for Grover are on Friday, January 3 rd , 2020 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 721 Paxon Hollow Rd., Broomall, PA 19008. Viewing 9 am to 10:40, followed by the Funeral Service at 11 am. Following the service, all are invited to join us for a luncheon at the Church. A Funeral Procession will follow to Edgewood Memorial Park, located at 325 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, PA 19342.
Memorial donations are, in Lieu of flowers, requested to cover funeral expenses and are very much appreciated. Please contact a family member for the financial institution information handling donations. Any donations beyond expenses will be sent to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
