Obituary

Lucy M. DeMarco-Clouse, Claymont, Delaware

Age 92, of Claymont, DE, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family in her home on May 18.

Lucy was born and raised in Chester, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Domenic DeMarco and Josephine Landino-DeMarco. She was a sister to four of her siblings who have predeceased her. In 1946, Lucy married her soulmate, Veryl (Bud) Clouse, at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Chester PA, who predeceased her in March 1999. Her son, Dennis, also predeceased her as an infant.

Lucy survived by her five children, David Clouse, Claymont, DE, Allen Clouse (wife, Betsy), Hollidaysburg, PA, daughter, Dianne Clouse-Scott (husband, Chuck), Newark, DE, son, Gary Clouse (wife, Heike), Newark, DE, and, daughter, Joyce Clouse-Kelly (husband, Tim), Wilmington, DE. Lucy has been fortunate to have very special loving grandchildren (10), great-grandchildren (7), nieces and nephews, and dear friends all whom she adored.

Since 1952, moving to Delaware, Lucy has been a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Claymont, DE. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Choir, and the Sanctuary Society which was a thriving and active organization for many years.  Lucy volunteered in the Parish Outreach, where she helped clients with emergency, supplemental food assistance, served as an Eucharist Minister of Holy Communion to the Sick, and an active member of the Post Cana Organization.  While raising her family, Lucy worked as a claims adjuster for Hartford Insurance Company in 1970. She then worked as a medical transcriptionist at Sacred Heart Hospital where she retired in 1986.

Lucy and her husband looked forward to holding their traditional Italian Sunday meals that brought the entire family together. It was enjoyed by all especially when the grandchildren were growing up. She was always crocheting and knitting something special for her whole family. She even made sure to include blankets, hats, and booties by the dozens for the preemies in the hospital.

She loved challenging jigsaw puzzles and playing scrabble especially when she was set up on her computer in her later years. She always kept up with the times by making sure she used her cell phone to text every morning and evening to her family. Nothing stopped her. She and her husband loved spending summers down the Jersey shore with their family.  She looked forward to watching the Eagles, dancing, and playing all kinds of card games especially bridge with her special group of friends.

The family would like to especially thank the entire staff at Seasons Hospice for the tremendous loving care that was given to our mom.

Friends and family are invited to Lucy's Funeral Mass which will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. (9:30 a.m. visitation) at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE.  Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE.
