Maria Anna Johnston Herceg, 94
Maria Anna Johnston Herceg, 94, of Garnet Valley, PA died October 20, 2018 at the Hospice Residence of Taylor Hospital.
Raised in Colwyn, PA and a past resident of Chester, PA, Mrs. Herceg lived in Garnet Valley for the last 25 years.
She was the widow of Charles Joseph Herceg, Sr. and daughter of the late Robert M. and Maria Johnston. She was predeceased by sisters, Margaret (Peggy) Beuttel and Elizabeth (Betty) Yeskoot.
Mrs. Herceg was a graduate of Ridley Park High School and began her career as a secretary at Land Title Bank, worked at Sweeney & Clyde and later retire from Baldt Anchor as an administrative assistant.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed a good time at family celebrations. Her hobbies included counted cross-stitch, crochet and reading. At an earlier age, she enjoyed sketching and painting with watercolor.
She was active in the former Feltonville United Methodist Church, Price Street United Methodist Church and Trainer United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, Bible Study and youth group leader, Women's Society officer and other administrative positions.
Mrs. Herceg loved Jesus her Lord and Saviour and the Holy Spirit who sustained her through her illnesses.
The family wishes to thank the attentive and compassionate caregivers who attended their mother at Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospice.
Survivors: Daughters, Judith Frerking of Royse City, TX, Roberta Herceg-Baron of Hockessin, DE, Jeanne Denham of West Chester, PA; a son, Charles Joseph Herceg, Jr. of Garnet Valley, PA; a sister, Kathryn (Kass) Gallagher of Hempstead, NC; 3 sons-in-law, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Thursday, Oct. 25 th , 11-11:45 AM followed by her Funeral Service at 12 Noon at the Kaniefski, Kendus and Danjolell Memorial Home, 3900 W. 9 th St., Trainer, PA 19061. Interment Lawn Croft Cemetery.
